New Hyrule Warriors Details To Be Revealed In Today's Nintendo Direct [UPDATED]

Nintendo's live stream to reveal more information on upcoming Dynasty Warriors and The Legend of Zelda crossover.

Nintendo will be announcing more details surrounding its upcoming hack and slash game Hyrule Warriors in today's Nintendo Direct. The livestream will begin in 2 hours from now, at 8PM PT/11PM ET. GameSpot will be updating this story as the live stream progresses, so be sure to stay tuned for more details as they are announced.

Hyrule Warriors is being developed by Omega Force and Team Ninja for the Wii U. The game is similar to that of Tecmo Koei's Dynasty Warrior series, but draws upon The Legend of Zelda universe for its setting and characters. The game also features a local co-op mode where one person can play on the TV and the other on the Wii U Gamepad's screen.

Hyrule Warriors will launch in Japan on August 14, Europe on September 19, Australia on September 20, and North America on September 26. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

Live update: Zant (Twilight Princess), Midna (Twilight Princess), and Ghirahim (Skyward Sword) are confirmed to be playable characters. Lana, a sorceress, has been introduced as a character unique to Hyrule Warriors. She fights using a book of sorcery and is described as a "key character to the story."

Chain Chomp, who originated from the Mario universe, will appear in Hyrule Warriors as a weapon.

Hyrule Warriors will include a badge crafting system, which can help to increase a characters statistics. Crafting uses items which are dropped by enemies.

Adventure Mode will be available. It will be set up like the classic 8-bit Zelda top-down style map. Each square that the player steps into initiates a challenge to be played out in the combat style of Hyrule Warriors. For example, kill five million enemies in 30 seconds. As each grid is completed new grids open, allowing players to unlock new weapons, items, and characters. It described as "a bit similar to classic Zelda games."

Gold Skulltulas are back for players to collect.

To close off the presentation, Ganandorf has been revealed as a playable character. Preorder bonuses are also shown, which include costumes for select characters. No mention of whether these will be available outside of North America.

Battlefield 4 Glitch Gives You Unlimited Rockets by Combining Two Classes' Gadgets

This helps to define what the function of a given class is (the Engineer is a good anti-vehicle class, for example) and prevents you from being able to have certain combinations of tools--say, a rocket launcher and an ammo box to provide yourself with additional rockets. Thanks to a new glitch, this is no longer the case.

As documented by YouTube user EvilBeastLord (via BF4 Central), this bug allows you to effectively combine two classes. What this means in effect is that you can gain access to gadgets that one player could otherwise not have, like the aforementioned rocket launcher and ammo box combo (combining the Engineer and Support classes), or a revive kit and anti-tank mines (Assault and Engineer).

The process for doing this is relatively straightforward, though it's also something you're very unlikely to have ever done by mistake. You simply set opposing item slots to have "no gadget" and then hit the L1 and R1 or Left Bumper and Right Bumper as you hit the button to spawn, and that empty gadget slot will be filled by the corresponding slot's gadget from the other class.

It's unclear how long it has been possible to do this, but it reportedly works on all platforms. It's been known publicly since as at least as early as July 14, when it was revealed on a Battlefield fan forum.

This glitch isn't necessarily game-breaking in the way others have been; provided you have at least one competent teammate, it's not uncommon to wield a rocket launcher while a teammate's ammo box provides you with additional rockets.

However, this does encourage a lone wolf mentality that goes against the way the game is meant to be played. Players are rewarded in numerous ways for playing alongside teammates, and this gives players more power to go off on their own. As someone who still plays Battlefield 4 and always strives to play in a team-oriented way, that's a real bummer. Hopefully DICE is able to patch this before long.

Battlefield 4's first several months on the market were plagued with problems, but more serious than glitches and exploits was the fact that the game was effectively unplayable for many players. DICE has since greatly improved the game's stability to the point where problems are far less common and it plays much more smoothly. Still, players' confidence in the series has been shaken, which may in part explain why publisher Electronic Arts was willing to push back the launch of the next game in the series, Battlefield Hardline, until early 2015.

GTA 5 Launches Double RP Event, Lets You Get a Head Start on Xbox One/PS4

Get double RP all weekend in GTA Online on Xbox 360 and PS3, then transfer your progress to the enhanced versions coming this fall.

Rockstar is hosting another special event in Grand Theft Auto V's online mode this weekend. Starting today, you can earn double reputation points--the game's experience system--while playing Grand Theft Auto Online, something that is of benefit even to those planning to switch to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or PC versions later this year.

The Double RP event begins today and runs until 11:59 PM ET on Sunday, August 3. Any method for earning RP--including jobs and the game's various activities, like gang attacks and hold-ups--will land you twice as much as usual. This will allow you to more quickly reach the higher ranks required for purchasing certain weapons and customization options for vehicles.

As Grand Theft Auto Online progress can be carried over to your choice of the three enhanced versions coming later this year, this is a good way to get ahead in those versions prior to their release.

This weekend is an especially good time to dive back into GTA Online if it's been some time since you played; this is your last opportunity to get the content released for the Independence Day event earlier this month. That includes a special motorcycle, musket, USA-themed clothing, and a monster truck adorned with the United States flag--the American dream, in other words.

Perhaps GTA Online's most-anticipated feature, multiplayer heists, have still not been released. They were expected out this spring, but were officially delayed in June.

The Xbox One, PS4, and PC versions of GTA V do not yet have a release date; we only know they are coming this fall. Rockstar has also said that, in addition to improved graphics, these versions will featuregreater draw distances, more types of wildlife, and denser traffic.
